Jersey's Historic Churches

Week Commencing Saturday, 18th August 2018

This week we have arranged visits to a number of local churches including a selection of ancient, stone-built Parish churches, Anglican with medieval origins,

French immigrants both Protestant and Roman Catholic and a visit from John Wesley has resulted a rich variety of churches and chapels. We will be proud to show you the finest examples. These will include the Town Church of St Helier; St Helier Methodist Centre and St Thomas Roman Catholic Church. A visit to the famous “Glass Church” of St Matthew will allow an opportunity to see the priceless Lalique glasswork.

The architecture is a fascinating mixture, of styles featuring local granite and Victorian stained glass, many endowed with fine memorials, all combining to tell the story of faith in this Island.

Participation is optional and is free of charge.
