Maison des Landes is a charitable trust set-up by the Lions Club of Jersey to provide holidays in Jersey specifically for people with a disability, along with their family, friends and carers. We’ve been welcoming guests with disabilities since 1960’s. Our newly refurbished premises combined with 50 years of experience enable us to give people the kind of break they thought they may never be able to enjoy again.
In 2021 we commenced a £3.8 million refurbishment of the property to further enhance the experience of our visitors. When the hotel reopened in 2023 we also launched the Community Hub - an inclusive social space and meeting place that it open to individuals, local disability groups and organisations. Whilst these improvements are fantastic for visitors and locals alike, funding our work remains a constant challenge. On 15th November 2024, a group of over 20 cyclists from Jersey will travel halfway around the world to cycle 500km from Vietnam to Cambodia in aid of respite breaks for caregivers at Maison des Landes.
The challenge route will take the team from Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, past the rice paddies and waterways of the Mekong Delta, across the border into Cambodia and onto the legendary temples of Angkor Wat - one of the wonders of Southest Asia.
Having paid their deposits and booked their flights, our riders are now turning their minds to raising £2,000 each - every penny of which will go to funding respite breaks for Jersey Carers at Maison des Landes.
